Perspective is everything.
The Jenni Carroll Perspective is founded on several guiding principles that have revealed themselves over the course of my life and career.
First…
Our mental health is inextricably linked to our spiritual health. If we do not explore our spiritual selves, our worth, our purpose, and our connection to each other, it will be challenging to maintain our psychological health and emotional well-being.
Second…
We are the constant in our lives, and in order to have healthy relationships with others, we MUST have a healthy relationship with ourselves.
Third…
There are foundational universal principles meant to guide and support us through our journey of life. Understanding these truths will uplift and support us. Ignoring them will lead to unnecessary suffering and a much more challenging life experience.
Most importantly…
We each have the power to create a more positive existence.
Life is only as hard as we allow it to be.
You deserve to find sweetness in life — and you are worth it.
How my journey began
From growing up in the rural UP of Michigan to living in the suburbs of Chicago, my life and career journey has had many twists and turns.
Entering Michigan State University with a political science major failed to foreshadow my eventual degree in History and Secondary Education from Marquette University five years later. Despite sincerely enjoying connecting with students, teaching high school was not my calling. And even though I left the field of education many years ago, there is a part of me that will always be a teacher.
It was not until I became acquainted with the profession of marriage counselor… Thank you, Oprah and Dr. Phil, that I aligned with an authentic purpose. My training at Northwestern University’s Family Institute provided an amazing foundation. For the past 20 years, I have thoroughly enjoyed building a successful private practice, feeling both appreciation and joy for what I get to do, the lives I touch, and the incredible richness it brings to mine.
My New Mission
For much of my career as a therapist, I have also been on my own spiritual journey.
Together, these experiences have taught me that mental and spiritual health are inextricably linked. Without an understanding of our spiritual selves, it is difficult to maintain emotional well-being. My greatest desire is to help others understand and embrace this foundational truth.
More recently, I have been entertaining new ways to share my perspective of universal principles and strategies for living well with more people than I am able to see in my office.
After months of fluctuating between a sense of effortlessness and the hardest work of my life, The Jenni Carroll Perspective was created.
I am open to all outcomes, grateful and excited to be living this next chapter.
Commitment still means the world to me
The other most important aspect of my life is family. I have been married for twenty-seven years to my sweet, hard-working husband, Steve, and I am blessed with two beautiful sons, Braden and Chase.
Our labradoodle Ripken is the newest member of our family and has brought us much joy (and new insight into the world of animals) over the past two years. Our family resides in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Go Bears!
